COGard

Presentation of the COGard Association

The Ornithological Center of Gard (COGard) is a non-profit organization governed by the 1901 law and boasting 43 years of existence. Its headquarters are located in Nîmes, Gard. Founded on September 2, 1980, and registered at the Nîmes prefecture, its initial objective was to enhance knowledge about the birds of Gard. Since then, the association has evolved and expanded its areas of expertise. Today, COGard is dedicated to the study and protection of the fauna and flora of Gard more broadly. The association is organized around two main activity centers: the study and conservation center, and the awareness center. These centers fulfill three primary missions to achieve the association’s objectives: study, protection, and awareness. Through these missions, the association conducts a wide range of interventions for which it is accredited in the fields of environmental protection, Youth and Popular Education, National Education, Civic Service, Social and Solidarity Economy, and Professional Training. The various activities are carried out by a team of 16 employees, supported by over 250 members.
