About the action
Introduction to the Organization
Composed of field naturalists, nature animators, and volunteers eager to invest in the conservation of Lorraine's biodiversity, LOANA aims to study the fauna and flora of our region, to enhance and manage our ecosystems while raising public awareness about the preservation of this environment. To achieve this, it passionately and competently combines the implementation of concrete field actions.
LOANA wishes to work with other naturalist organizations engaged in the study and protection of nature and will share its data with them on concrete projects such as surveys and follow-ups, and all concerted actions in favor of nature protection.
Funding for Wood Grouse Surveys in the Lorraine Plain
The Wood Grouse, the smallest grouse species in France, is one of the bird species most threatened with extinction in France.
The lack of knowledge and the discreet nature of the species make it urgent to identify the Lorraine forest areas where this species is still present.
The objectives of this long-term study are firstly to confirm-update the presence of the species in the Lorraine plain, but also to identify (or not) the possible existence of micro-populations and finally, if the species is detected, to work more closely with the ONF (at the level of forest parcels) for better consideration of the species in the silvicultural management of these forests.
