Introduction to the ReSeacle Association

ReSeacle's mission is to fight against a major pollution issue of our times: plastic. A miracle material with increasingly impressive properties, plastic has invaded our daily lives. A large part of the objects around us are composed of it. However, they are not designed to become waste after use, and this poses a problem. Poorly managed, plastic waste spreads into natural environments. Plastic is found in the most remote places in the world. It is urgent to act, and this is the ambition of the ReSeacle association. Using a sailboat, they set off to sail the North Atlantic for ten months to carry out various actions around plastic: collaboration with locals, awareness-raising, pollution cleanup, revaluation.

Project Description

One of the project's goals is to contribute to the creation of databases on plastic pollution. The ReSeacle crew volunteers to collect microplastic samples during their adventure. These samples will later be sent to an association responsible for analyzing them and synthesizing the results on an interactive map. These data help scientists better understand the origins of microplastics in the oceans, their movement, and their impacts on biodiversity. For these samplings, we need sampling equipment, including a fine and technical net called a “Manta Trawl.”
